おはよう!

Hey everyone!

Okaie, I don’t know if I’m allowed to do this, but I have a habit of just doing things I like, and I also read AJATT, and he brought up a good point about immersion. So, I have now switched my Laptop to Linux Mint (In Japanese) and every site I visit, except for AJATT and the TV Method blogs (I’ve been reading up on yours Keith!) are in Japanese.

Even my email is Japanese (An excite.co.jp email.) I just have one problem.

I can’t stop listening to Hollywood Undead…>_>

Like…Honestly. I’ve been trying for days. But everytime I delete them, I break down and re-download them, or listen to them on Youtube.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop listening…?

Anywho, thanks for reading. I’m officially starting tonight, so I’m gonna do my best to stop listening to them, and try and find new music. I’ll update with more posts (And maybe some in Japanese…We shall see.) Also, I want to do some Youtube videos with me speaking in Japanese, as a test to see how I improve.

じゃあ、またな!

I’ve switched over to Yu-gi-oh!

I don’t like the fact that I can’t find a drama without hard subs, so I’m gonna watch Yugioh. I have (and am in the process of getting more) RAW episodes, so I thnk they’ll work better.

Also, I’m listening to Rhymester when I’m doing things where I can’t watch TV.

And does anyone know a *non Heisig* way to learn Kanji? Heisig bores me even when I turn it into a game.

Finally started (2 hours in)

Right now I’m watching 1リターの涙. I’m trying to find a version without subs, but I’m just covering the subs at the moment.

I know what I’m gonna do!

I’m just gonna change the title. The address is gonna stay the same. I like the misnomer. It’s interesting.

So, I’ve started listening to Kick the Can Crew, and I’ve got some Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters downloading (What, an adult can’t enjoy a children’s card game?)

However, I am wondering, am I just supposed to watch dramas? (Keith, you can definately help me on this.) ‘Cause if so, I’ve got some downloading to do (Densha Otoko and 1 Litre of Tears are high on the list!)

Anyway, if anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks ^_^

A slight change in Plans…

Hey. Brent again.

I’ve changed my language (To Japanese), only because I really wanted to learn Japanese (Swedish too…Turns out there’s not all that much I could find in Swedish…)

Well, that and apparently if you’re white, or obviously American, most Swedes will just speak English…>_>

So…Yeah. ^_^ I guess now the site should be called Japanese from Zero. I’ll keep everyone updated on what I’m doing, and hopefully I can change the name. If not, I’ll just make a new blog, I suppose…

Hello everyone!

Hey, Brent here. I’m attempting to learn Swedish from Zero (Hence the title name. I kinda like it, actually ^_^)

I am using the TV Method, which from what I can gather is simply watching (not analyzing, looking up anything, just watching) TV. And it seems like a really interesting way to do it.

From what I’ve seen, it seems like most of the people who do this, already know some of thier target language. So, I picked a language I knew very little about, and I am going to see if you can learn like a child while you’re still older (I’m 19 at this post). Seeing as Swedish is a cousin of English, I’m hoping for a smoother transition than Japanese (Which I will continue working on after this experiment.)

I am going to document as much as I can, to the point of carrying a notepad around with me so that I can get as much of this written as possible. I’m going to attempt about 5-10 hours of watching anything (that I enjoy in my L1) in Swedish, and 24 hours (Yes, even while I sleep!) listening to Swedish. However, as to not alienate my roomates and friends, I most of the listening will be passive.

Anyway, I don’t want to bore you anymore than I have to so…I’ll see ya later!

Bye!
